Do I Have Enough Damage To File A Claim?

Fat Ox - Big Van: A piece of siding is missing from my roof. And so now I like or from the outside of my house. Should I file a claim for that?

Fat Ox - Mizani: And it says I have a piece of siding blown off. Is that enough damage to file a claim? A piece of siding blew off of your house?

Fat Ox - Big Van: Yeah, that happens.

Fat Ox - Mizani: I know, but, like, you're asking me if that's enough.

Fat Ox - Big Van: Well, that's. I'm glad you responded that way, because a lot of people have that instant thought, like a piece of siding is missing from my roof. And so now I like or from the outside of my house. Now should I file a claim for that? And the answer is it's not an easy yes, because if you have like a $1,000 deductible and it may only cost 200 bucks for a guy to come out and fix that siding. And now you filed a claim. You know, there may not be any need for a claim. So the quick answer to that is call a public insurance adjuster. Call an adjuster that will come out, a PA that will come out and look or they may just answer it over the phone and say, is that all the damage you see? And if so, they'll probably say, let's not file a claim for that. Let's wait till we have more damage. However, it could be that during the storm, the storm blew the siding off and then heavy rains were washed in behind the siding ran down inside your wall, soaked all your insulation, soak the back side of your drywall, went down into your floor system, soaked the floor system, soaked all the drywall or all the insulation in the floor system, drip down in your HVAC units, in your crawl space. Do you see what I'm saying? Could be a lot of damage there just from one missing piece of siding. So we really need to get somebody involved that's going to be looking out for your best interest, find a public adjuster in your area and have them come out and look at it and tell you if you should file a claim for that. That's that's my answer. Great question. We get that question a lot. Is this enough to file a claim? That's a great question, but that's what I would say is called public adjuster right off the bat before you do anything. And they'll give you some good direction most of the time.
